Julie's Story

Julie Rana started shooting later in life after a friend of a friend lost their daughter at the Sandy Hook Elementary School mass shooting which motivated Julie to learn about firearms and how to protect herself. She later became a Chief Range Safety Officer, an NRA Certified Basic Firearms Instructor and a Chapter Leader for the Armed Women of America. She knows what it's like to be a beginner with firearms, and offers a friendly environment to the first time shooter. Julie Rana has an MBA from the University of Maryland, and is retired from a successful career in human resources, training and executive recruiting, and is used to working with people from all backgrounds. Private lessons for shooting and firearms instruction are provided to men and women in Northern Virginia. Call, text or email Julie to arrange a lesson.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Do I need to have a gun? No. Julie can provide one. Can I bring my own gun? Yes. Can Julie help me determine which gun is right for me? Yes. Gun rentals: Some ranges have rentals. It depends on the range. Eye & Ear Protection? Julie rents them for $5.00, or you can get them at the range. Electronic ear muffs are recommended. Can I use my regular glasses? Yes. Ammo and Targets? You can buy them at the range. Instruction Fee? $75 an hour, per person. Number of People Allowed? One person per hour. How long does a private lesson last? One hour. Age requirement? 18 years old and up. Closed Toed Shoes? Are required at all ranges. Sandals? Not allowed at any range. Baseball cap? Can be helpful. Proper shirt? A regular shirt, short sleeve tee shirt or polo is fine. Other items? Sometimes a range will require new people to watch a video or charge a fee to get a range card for the first time.
